Trans isomer rubber is currently used for a wide range of applications, but there are two main aspects.

1 It has the dual characteristics of rubber and plastic (that is, it is crystalline at room temperature, inelastic, and when the temperature rises to 60 ,, the crystal softens and can be operated on the rubber mixer), it can also be sulfurized and crosslinked to obtain elasticity. It has a series of properties such as seawater resistance, ozone resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and can be applied to the following fields:

a. As an insulating layer material for submarine cables, exert its seawater resistance characteristics;

b. Medically used for the positioning of orthopedic surgery to replace the traditionally used plaster, bandage, steel or wooden positioning splint, which is very convenient to use. If it needs to be removed or changed after use, it can be heated. The ideal orthopedic material can also be used as a neck or lumbar support in orthopedic surgery;
C. As a protective material for a certain part of the human body, such as the athlete’s leg protectors and knee pads, it can protect the limbs without affecting the competition; it can also be used for battlefield first aid in the military;

d. As a shape memory functional material, under certain external conditions, it is deformed first and then fixed, and when the external conditions return to the deformation, the material returns to the original state.

2 Used in combination with general purpose rubber, or as a substitute material for rubber. Since TPI can be operated on a rubber mill at the usual rubber processing temperature, it can be blended with a general-purpose rubber and can be cross-linked by double bonds in the molecular chain, thereby preventing it from returning to the crystalline state and maintaining the elastomer. Characteristics. This is the theoretical explanation that TPI can replace the general rubber even though it has a trans structure. The TPI was originally only used as a special type of glue with a narrow use, but now it is extending in the direction of the universal glue.

a. The green rubber performance of TPI is different from that of natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber because of the density of double bonds. Therefore, the curing system of the formula does not need to be set separately. However, in order to reduce the crystallization tendency, the amount of the vulcanizing agent should be increased to 4 to 6 parts to achieve a higher crosslinking density. Therefore, TPI is only suitable for use with general-purpose unsaturated gels, and cannot be used alone, and the combined ratio should not exceed 30 parts.

b. The performance characteristics of the glue used in combination with the TPI can reduce the rolling resistance and friction heat generation, so as to achieve the purpose of reducing fuel consumption, so it is suitable for popularization in tires.
